Liquid began their ESL One New York campaign on the right foot as they took down fellow North American side eUnited in two maps.
Liquid took the initiative on Overpass but were surprised with the reaction from eUnited, who built on the momentum gained after winning a 2v4 situation and put together a string of rounds. The game was starting to spiral out of control for Liquid but then they tightened up and gradually took the upper hand, closing out the first half with a narrow 8-7 lead.
eUnited retook the lead in the game after winning the second-half pistol, but Liquid hit their stride once they had money in the bank. The No.1 team in the world would go on to take the map without too much trouble, but they could not be satisfied with the 16-12 scoreline after once again making the sort of mistakes that had proved so costly at the StarLadder Major.

Next up was Mirage, where Liquid gave an immaculate performance on the Terrorist side. They ran all over the eUnited defense to race to a 14-1 lead, with Keith "NAF" Markovic ending the half with a 21-4 score and an average 140 damage per round.
Now playing on the Terrorist side, eUnited still attempted a response and took control of the B site in the pistol round with a fast execute. Their efforts would be in vain, though, as Liquid quickly wrapped things up to advance to the winners' match, in which they will take on the victor of the series between ENCE and G2.
